About the event

This workshop will give an overview on what Scratch programming is, and will provide lessons on the basic features of Scratch. Participants will also learn how to design and program their very first game on Scratch as well.

Key Points:

One key aspect about my workshop is that it doesn't matter if attendees have never coded in their life before, or aren't interested in Computer Science at all, as they will still find this workshop interesting. They will learn the basics of a programming language in an appealing and entertaining way, and will get to interact with it themselves by having the opportunity to code their own game in Scratch.

About the Workshop Leader, Satwika Paul:

I'm a junior in high school in Illinois, and I love math and programming, and look forward to majoring in Computer Science in the future. Apart from STEM, I enjoy sketching, playing the piano, and traveling. I am a leader on my school's Speech Team, so I have enhanced communication skills, especially related to public speaking. Additionally, I am a national qualifier in Business Professionals of America, and have experience with creating professional documents and attending leadership conference. Other clubs I am a part of at school include Girls Who Code, Math Team, Model UN, and Tri-M music honors society. Outside of school, I am also a paid tutor for programming and middle school science, and am a leading mentor for my district's science fair program. I am a paid tutor for programming, and one of the subjects I teach is Scratch Programming. Hence, I have had prior experience on lesson planning, and teaching other students this programming language, and am confident that I will execute a successful workshop.
