About the event

What you will learn: In this workshop, we learn about the programming language known as Python and the different ways it is used in computer science and data science. What you can look forward to: "The workshop will allow you to learn more about the many unique and exciting things that you can do with Python, hopefully inspiring you to use the language yourself." About the workshop leader: "Mira Bali is a high school senior from the Bay Area, who is very passionate about STEM and technology. Some of her other interests include teaching, writing, and dancing. Mira loves to teach others, as she gets an immense amount of satisfaction from helping others learn and grow. In fact, she has actually served as a mentor in the Digitize Mentorship Program, helping a college student learn Python. She has also often volunteered as a tutor and also works as a tutor. Mira is also extremely dedicated towards several issues, one of them being the gender gap in technology and STEM. Hence, she always tries to bridge this gap through her involvement in different school clubs and nonprofit organizations. Other causes she is passionate about include education and raising awareness about mental health. Moreover, another hobby that Mira enjoys is public speaking. She is the captain of the Extemporaneous Speaking team at her school and has qualified to the state level in National Extemporaneous Speaking. Additionally, she has mentored others even in Speech and Debate through the Bridge program. Furthermore, she is currently helping organize a beginner friendly hackathon known as Xd Mini Hacks SF, building the website and managing activities for it. Additionally, through an introductory data science program, Mira also became familiar with different Python libraries like NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, etc, that are often used in Data Science."
